Professional Experience
Washington liaison, Democratic Progressive Party. Information liaison between Taiwan’s DPP and policy makers in Washington.
Senior Policy Analyst, Formosan Association for Public Affairs.1999-2002 Responsible for tracking U.S. policy toward Taiwan, Taiwan security issues, and developments in Taiwanese political affairs and producing opinion pieces, journal articles, and a member newsletter on these questions. Also lobbied the U.S. Senate on Taiwan-related concerns.
Executive Director, Council for a Livable World Education Fund, 1993-1999. Led a ten person staff which analyzed weapons of mass destruction, conventional arms, and U.N. peacekeeping issues. Responsible for fundraising, media outreach, and public presentations.
Foreign Policy Consultant, 1991-1993, 1985-1989. Analyst of U.S. policy, working with the Central American Historical Institute, Americans for Peace in the Americas and other organizations in Washington.
Journalist, 1989-91. Washington correspondent for the Capital Morning Post, one of the first Taiwanese newspapers to publish after press freedom was established on the island. 1991-95, stringer for several Taiwanese magazines and published articles in the Far Eastern Economic Review .
Director, Project on Asian Studies in Education, University of Michigan, 1972-76. Led this outreach program of the University’s Asian Studies Programs. Work included curriculum development, workshops for primary and secondary school teachers, and public presentations on Asian issues.
